VaultPilot — web clipper for your Obsidian vault

Clip any page or selection to clean Markdown — straight into your local Obsidian, Logseq, or Capacities vault. 100% local, no account.

VaultPilot — clip any page to clean Markdown in your own vault
Clip any page to clean Markdown — into your own vault, not a cloud.
VaultPilot — every capture keeps its source, tags, and notes
Every capture keeps its context — source, tags, and a note field.
VaultPilot — Direct-to-Vault writes straight into your Obsidian folder
Direct-to-Vault: write .md straight into your Obsidian folder. No Downloads shuffle.

Save the web to your vault — not to someone else's cloud.

Web clippers turn your browser into a factory for a messy Downloads folder, or lock your saves inside their own cloud and format. VaultPilot is the bridge: capture a page or a selection, get clean Markdown, and route it into your own local Obsidian, Logseq, or Capacities vault. Local, private, and yours.

WHAT IT DOES

  • Capture three ways — drag-select a region of any page, "Save this page" for full text, or right-click a selection → "Save to VaultPilot". Captures stack up locally.
  • Clean Markdown — each capture becomes a .md file with YAML frontmatter (title, source URL, timestamp, tags, note). It captures the text you choose, not page clutter.
  • Liberate to Markdown (free) — download your captures as .md files, individually or combined, and drop them into your vault.
  • Direct-to-Vault (one-time lifetime unlock) — skip the Downloads shuffle: VaultPilot writes .md straight into a folder you pick, using the browser's File System Access API.
    • Your choice, your boundary: VaultPilot never takes silent actions. Its file-system access is limited to the one folder you explicitly grant — it can't see or touch anything else on your disk.
    • Security compliance: Manifest V3, fully sandboxed, no remote code. Page reading is limited to the pages you actively clip — on your device, nothing transmitted.
  • Select & clean up — tristate select-all, per-item actions, and a prompt to clear what you've saved.

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT

Web Highlights, Glasp, and Liner trap your saves in their cloud and format, with manual-only export. VaultPilot is the bridge that doesn't exist — capture once, locally, and it lands as Markdown in your own vault. The data starts and stays yours.

WORKS WITH YOUR VAULT

VaultPilot emits standard Markdown + YAML frontmatter, which Obsidian, Logseq, and Capacities all read natively. It is a clipper, not a content blocker — it captures the text you choose.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Everything stays on your device (chrome.storage.local + IndexedDB). VaultPilot has no server and sends nothing anywhere. Direct-to-Vault writes only to the folder you explicitly choose.

SOVEREIGN OWNERSHIP — ZERO SUBSCRIPTIONS

Capture and Markdown export are free, forever — you shouldn't have to pay to get your own reading out of a vendor's cloud. The optional Direct-to-Vault unlock is a one-time lifetime license. No subscriptions, no account, no ads, no tracking. Privacy is identical whether you pay or not.
